Keeping your brakes in good working order is just plain common sense, and with the exception of more modern disc brakes found on mountain bikes the brake setup on a bike is a fairly simple cable pull setup. But that's not to say there aren't plenty of things that can go wrong with them.

Stiff or stretched cables, or worn out caliper springs are very common problems and ones that can be simply fixed with a bit of lubricant in the cable or by replacing the spring. If your brakes are sticking to the rim as the wheel is going round though, it could be that your brake blocks are worn and a corner of the pad is catching on the rim.

It's also always worth looking at how true or straight your wheels actually are to see whether or not your wheel is hitting the blocks every time it goes around.

However your brakes are setup, and however bad they are working we can give them a good tweak to ensure you can stop properly when you need to. We can provide brake servicing as part of a bike service for which prices start from just £15 or as a simple brake only maintenance where prices start from only £5.
